Lot number: 172-01729
Winning bid: £35
The Glencadam distillery in the Burgh of Brechin has passed through several ownerships since it was founded by George Cooper in 1825 - including Hiram Walker, Ballantine’s and Allied Domecq - before being sold to current owners, Angus Dundee Plc in 2003.
A working water wheel was re-installed in the heart of Glencadam Distillery, a nod back to how the distillery was powered back in 1825. It is used in blends such as Stewart’s Cream of the Barley and Ballantine’s, but has also produced a growing number of official bottlings since 2010.
Angus Dundee’s blending lab is now located at the distillery, and under the helm of master blender, Iain Forteath, Glencadam is slowly emerging as a popular single malt in its own right.
Cask Type: Tawny Port Finish
46% ABV / 70cl
