Colonel E.H. Taylor Single Barrel Kentucky Bourbon Selected by JW Steakhouse 75cl
Lot number: 172-04501
Winning bid: £120
Known as the ‘Father of the Modern Bourbon Industry’, Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor Jr is known for setting high standards for the purity and efficacy of bourbon, making notable advancements to the industry and for creating his own world renowned distillery. First purchasing a small distillery in 1869, he immediately made changes that were remarkable at the time. He decided to upgrade and expand, introducing modernised practices which vastly change the landscape of distilling in the area. He is known for his creations of Column Stills, copper fermentation tanks and above all a highly original steam heating system which is still being used in barrel warehouses to this day! Advocating for higher standards within the industry, he was invaluable in ensuring the success of the Bottled-In-Bond Act of 1897. It is now owned by Sazerac and the brand has been maintained to honour Colonel E. H Taylor and the bottles available today have likely been aged in these same warehouses constructed by him.
