Founded in 1893 In Leith by Roderick Macdonald this blend has at its heart Glenmorangie - a distillery purchased by Roderick to supply the base of his whisky, and Glen Moray at that time called Glen Moray-Glenlivet. Named for Leith’s connection with Mary Queen Of Scots when in 1561 she landed at the port of Leith and rode on her horse, an image that adorns the labels of this blend. In 2008, Highland Queen was sold to Picard Vins et Spiriteux, owner of the Tullibardine distillery so it is likely that this single malt now helps to make up the blend.
