Fragolino was originally made from the uva fragola (literally ‘strawberry grape’), which was introduced to Italy from America as a means of fighting the phylloxera outbreak which decimated European vineyards. These days, it’s produced from local Italian grapes, and is a low alcohol, sweet or semi-sweet wine with a light sparkle.
