Originally owned by the late Mr. Bob Wright and his wife Eileen, who established the business back in 1982, The Wright Wine Company is now owned and run by Julian Kaye who started with the company back in 1991, and took over ownership in 2012.
The Skipton shop offers seven rooms of drinks heaven. With over 3,000 wines from around the globe, and rooms dedicated to both Bordeaux and Burgundy. They also have two whisky rooms containing over 1,200 different drams to chose from.
The ‘Old Smithy’ name for their whiskies comes from the shop being the old Smithy building in Skipton. The building has had many uses over the years. Its double fronted doors hark back to the days when horse-drawn fire engines were still in use.
