Rooted in tradition, St. George’s Distillery are proud to make whisky the old-fashioned way, using slow processes, traditional equipment and honest, local ingredients. James Nelstrop’s original goal for the distillery was to create England’s finest single-malt whisky. This has been the sole ambition for nearly 16 years and is what continues to drive them forward today.

Upon his retirement, founder, James Nelstrop decided to make a life-long dream a reality and submitted a planning application for England’s first whisky distillery in over 100 years. Iain Henderson, (former distiller of Laphroaig) led the distillation of the first whisky. The distillery is now led by James’ son Andrew, who continues to follow in his father’s footsteps.
