Lot number: 174-03639

Winning bid: £150

Employees of William Grant were again given this stunning bottle of whisky to celebrate the 110th birthday of Janet Sheed Roberts, who was born on August 13, 1901, and died in April 2012. She was the matriarch of the Grant family, who owned and ran William Grant & Sons Ltd. , one of the last family-owned independent whisky distillers in Scotland.

Janet, who was known as The Wee Janie to family and friends, was the last surviving granddaughter of William Grant, who founded Glenfiddich Distillery in 1886. The whisky was been named Hazelwood after the house where Janet lived. Only 1600 bottles were made, and only presented to Grants’ employees.

The fourth in a series of special bottlings to mark Janet’s 100th, 105th, 107th and 110th birthdays, this blend contains some of Wm. Grant & Sons most prestigious stocks, selected from key moments in Janet’s life. It comes in a special white box, and contains 12 black and white pictures of Janet’s life, a letter to employees with her life story and full details of the nosing and tasting notes.
