As might be expected of a Finnish business, the idea of the Kyro Distillery was conceived in a sauna by a group of friends drinking rye whisky. They questioned why nobody was making such a product in Finland and the project developed from there. Due to their ambitious spirit, the friends noticed an old dairy being used as a garage and decided this was the place where their distilling plans would come true. From the initial experimentation in the house of the parents of Head Distiller Kalle to smuggling a new make sample into The Whisky Show in London to get feedback, the friends paved a path into the industries of gin, whisky, and liqueur; with everything they produce being an all-rye spirit.
