Pittyvaich 1992 30 Year Old Prima & Ultima
Lot number: 175-01325
Winning bid: £500
Pittyvach was a utilitarian-looking distillery which was built purely for commercial purposes and was Arthur Bell & Sons’ response to the sudden leap in the brand’s fortunes in the 1970s when it became Britain’s top-selling blend. The firm already ran the Dufftown distillery and so in 1975, erected a shed next door and installed two (eventually four) stills inside.
By the end of 1980’s Pittyvaich was considered as surplus to requirements. It closed in 1994 and was demolished in 2002.
Celebrated whisky maker Diageo uses the Prima & Ultima name to showcase its very finest casks from across Scotland.
