Lot number: 175-03079
Winning bid: £230
Dalmore distillery was used as a deep-sea mine production centre by the Royal Navy between 1917 and 1920. After the navy departed, the distillery was left in tatters, and - after a long compensation battle involving the House of Lords - the distillery was brought back online in 1922. Now Dalmore, under the stewardship of Richard Paterson, (Whyte & Mackay) presents itself as a luxury brand, with some of its bottlings among the most expensive in the world.
The Portfolio Series pairs specially commissioned works of art with masterpieces of whisky making. We worked with V&A Dundee, Scotland’s design museum, to find partners to produce masterpieces of design tailored to accompany an amazing trio of whiskies.
The first in the series is a partnership with Dundee born artist, Fraser Gray.
