Winning bid: £180
Since 1795 when Jacob Beam started to sell corn-whiskey - a recipe passed down from his German father - seven generations of the Beam family have been involved in the creation of the whiskey that is known as Jim Beam. Named for James B. Beam, who popularised the business after prohibition and rebuilt the Clermont distillery in only 120 days, Jim Beam has been the world’s top-selling bourbon ever since. The distillery prides itself on its production method of ageing the bourbon twice as long as required by law.
A very interesting release from Jim Beam, their Distiller’s Masterpiece has been treated to a longer ageing duration than their standard bourbon, and has then been finished in Pedro Ximenez casks to impart yet more flavour! It’s not often you see bourbon finished in these types of casks, so if you’re looking for something a bit different, you’ve certainly found it.
