There has been over five generations of the Morrison family involved in the whisky business including grocers, brokers, blenders, bottlers and distillers, making them one of Scotland’s oldest whisky families. Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers is solely owned and operated by one of Scotland’s oldest and most prominent whisky families, Jamie and Brian Morrison. It marks the Morrison family’s return to distilling since Brian Morrison sold Morrison Bowmore Distillers, after nearly 25 years. Since 2017, they have started distilling their own single malt in Aberargie, Perthshire. Aptly named Aberargie Distillery, it is located on the family’s 300 acre farm just outside of Perth.
The Old Perth blend is a liquid tribute to the city it takes its name from. Originally created in the early 1900s by the Thomson family who were well-known grocers in the city. Old Perth was brought back to popularity in 2013 as a blended malt.
