Named due to the close relationship one of its three founders had with a Tunbridge Wells-based whisky shop of the same name, Master of Malt originally started trading in 1985 as an independent bottler to fulfill demand for single malt whiskies from the world's finest distilleries. The company then opened a physical store with a loyal small customer base, but at the start of the millennium, slowly moved to existing solely online which saw the company grow from strength to strength.
