Tullibardine 24 Year Old The Jar ‘Tam O’ Shanter’
Lot number: 178-02668
Winning bid: £60
In 1949 William Delme Evans began work converting a brewery into what is now the Tullibardine distillery; and as the Gleneagles Brewery in Blackford had previously been brewing alcohol since 1488, it is one of the oldest sites in Scotland for distilling and brewing. In 1488 James IV (the King who famously asked Friar John Cor to make aqua vitae from eight bolls of malt in 1495) stopped to buy a barrel of ale after his coronation at Scone.
After being silent from 1994 to 2003, Tullibardine is now owned by Picard Vins & Spiritueux since 2011. The company also own the Highland Queen and Muirhead’s brands.
