Bombay Original Dry Gin
Lot number: 178-02905
Winning bid: £20
Evoking the popularity of gin in India during the British Raj with the logo of Queen Victoria, the name Bombay Sapphire refers to the Smithsonian’s Star of Bombay; an 182-carat sapphire originally from Sri Lanka given to actress of silent film, Mary Pickford by her husband, Douglas Fairbanks. Still using original Carterhead stills - nicknamed Tom and Mary - from the 1930s, the distillery now boasts a beautiful botanical greenhouse allowing them to produce the flavours of citrus, liquorice and coriander to name a few.
