Aberargie Inaugural Release

There has been over five generations of the Morrison family involved in the whisky business including grocers, brokers, blenders, bottlers and distillers, making them one of Scotland’s oldest whisky families. In 2017, owners Morrison Distillers began distilling a new single malt whisky in Aberargie, Perthshire. Aptly named Aberargie Distillery, it is located on the family’s 300 acre farm on the banks of the famous River Earn, just a few miles outside of Perth. 

Just south of the Highland line, This Lowland distillery is a “barley to bottle” operation, set up to produce a rich, fruity and waxy style of whisky with the occasional peated run also being distilled. 

Aberargie predominately grows Laureate and Golden Promise grains, the latter being a heritage variety of barley, first developed in the 1960’s that is not so widely used by the whisky industry. All of the barley needed for distilling is grown on thier own farm.

Inaugural Release

Just shy of ten years old, this inaugural Release has been made using a combination of 48% Laureate, & 52% Golden Promise Barley. Matured in 50/50 mix of bourbon & sherry casks. Natural colour and without chill filtration.
