After spending 40 years in the whisky industry Ian Palmer anticipated a growth in the single malt market, this then led to issues for blenders and brand owners who were looking for more security of their whisky supply. Ian saw this as an opportunity to create a distillery that could produce volumes of single malts for these third party brands.
After backing from a private family investment group, an injection from his own pocket and a government grant of £1.7 million the project for the £10 million distillery was up and running. Work began in July 2014 and in just under 18 months the distillery was complete but wasn’t officially unveiled until May 2016.
