In early 2011, Desiree Reid decided to pursue her dream of creating a New Zealand single malt that would stand tall on the international whisky stage. She travelled around the world for two and a half years learning from many master distillers, including the late Dave Pickerell. In 2013, she sold her farm and moved to Wanaka where she was able to find a suitable site for a distillery in Cardrona.
