Inspired by a visit to the Kilchoman Distillery in 2012, Taiko Nakamura started thinking about setting up a distillery of his own back home. Eventually he did and Shizuoka distillery was opened in February of 2017. The Distillery has purchased part of the equipment from the legendary Karuizawa at auction. Of the three pot stills only one was useable with the other now being put on display in tribute to the lost legendary distillery.
This bottle was released in 2022 and was produced using 100% imported barley, 70% of which was peated. It has been aged in a combination of Bourbon and Virgin oak casks.
