Wire Works Whisky from White Peak Distillery is Derbyshire’s very first Single Malt. Commissioned in early 2018 with the first distillation taking place in April that year, it wasn’t until February 2022 when their first Wire Works Whisky was released. The “Wire Works” name comes from the sight of the distillery, as it’s built on the former Johnson & Nephew wire works on the banks of the river Derwent. The area was awarded UNESCO World Heritage status in December 2001.
This lightly-peated Single Malt Whisky has been created using a combination of English un-peated and peated malted barley. A flavour-focused four day fermentation uses a unique yeast blend incorporating live yeast sourced from a local Peak District brewery.
