Roe & Co is a contemporary blend named after George Roe, the whiskey-maker whose distillery was at one time the largest in Ireland expanding over 17 acres. He helped to develop the golden era of Irish whiskey production during the 1800s. After the distillery closed in 1926, the Roe family’s story and fame was largely forgotten. However, with a recent resurgence in Irish whiskey prominence, the name has been revived.
In 2019, Roe & Co opened their new distillery in the restored Guinness Power House helping to regenerate Dublin’s ‘Liberties’ D8 district; Irish whiskey’s original home. With Guinness and George Roe & Co effectively being neighbours in the 19th century, the new distillery can now look over Roe’s old windmill and pear tree.
This blended whiskey from Dublin based Roe & Co was created by Master Blender Caroline Martin and has notes of soft spice and mellow spun sugar along with warm hints of spiced pears and woody vanilla.
