The Macallan distillery was founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid, a barley farmer and school teacher. Now owned by the Edrington Group, The Macallan prides itself on its Six Pillars, which include its curiously small stills, very narrow ‘cut’ of new make spirit and exceptional cask management. It is the most sought after whisky for collectors, regularly setting records at auctions all round the world.
A staple part of the distillery’s core range, the extremely accessible Macallan 10-Year-Old would have introduced many a newcomer to the wonderful world of whisky. Sadly, it was discontinued in 2013 to make way for the non-age-statement 1824 series. As a result, the once humble 10-Year-Old has gone on to become highly sought after on the second-hand market.
This bottle was recieved by long standing employees after 25 years of service.
