A straight rye whiskey named after the infamous Sazerac coffee house in New Orleans which played a massive role in creating America’s first cocktail, the Sazerac. The cocktail itself is to be dated back to the pre-Civil War era - around the 1850s - and since 2008, has been New Orleans’ official cocktail. In 1869, the coffee house was purchased by bartender Thomas H Handy and began to work exclusively with liquor.
For this straight rye whiskey itself, it was distilled by the Buffalo Trace distillery and are part of their ‘’Antique Collection’’ as the traditional rye component.
