Lot number: 182-02874

Winning bid: £40

The family-owned company of Morrison & MacKay is one of the few remaining whisky companies left in the Perth area. The Morrison in the company name refers to one of the sons of the legendary Stanley P. Morrison, Brian. With it’s origins in the 1980s, the independent bottler and whisky merchant, was originally most famously known for its ‘Columba Cream’ whisky liqueur.

April 2017 saw the company move premises to a larger, purpose-built blending and bottling facility plus offices on the family’s 300 acre farm in the village of Aberargie, some seven miles south of Perth. In October 2017 Brian and Jamie Morrison had completed the construction of an independently operated single malt distillery, Aberargie, adjacent to Morrison & Mackay’s new headquarters

The Carn Mor range, bottled by Morrison & MacKay (formerly the Scottish Liqueur Centre) comprises of single cask bottlings and is subdivided into the Strictly Limited, Celebration of the Cask, and Black Gold series. In 2013 the business purchased the defunct ‘Old Perth’ brand from Whyte & Mackay, and relaunched it as a blended malt whisky with both peated and Sherried expressions. The purchase was significant for Kenny MacKay in particular, who had once worked for Old Perth’s original owner, Peter Thomson (Perth) Ltd.
