A distillery that was closed more than it was ever open, Imperial was one of Scotlands most unlucky distilleries spending more than half of her life closed, and then decades as a floor maltings only operation and ultimatley looted for scrap before being unceremoniously demolished - missing out on the high times of single malt whisky - Imperial produced whisky mainly for blending. However, the floral flavours of their whisky has grown in popularity in recent years and stock is now starting to run low.

In 1952 Imperial along with Aultmore became the first distillery to convert the spent pot ale and draff left overs to animal feed, a process which became virtually universal until the introduction of bio fuels.

The distillery closed it’s doors for the final time on St Andrews day 1998 and the buildings were demolished in 2013, the up-side is that they have made way for the new and rather stunning Dalmunach distillery so it’s not all bad news.

This bottling was released as part of Chivas Brothers’ Secret Speyside Collection.
