Wire Works Whisky from White Peak Distillery is Derbyshire’s very first Single Malt. Commissioned in early 2018 with the first distillation taking place in April that year, it wasn’t until February 2022 when their first Wire Works Whisky was released. The “Wire Works” name comes from the sight of the distillery, as it’s built on the former Johnson & Nephew wire works on the banks of the river Derwent. The area was awarded UNESCO World Heritage status in December 2001.
The first Wire Works Whisky release of 2023 is ‘Double Oak Port’. Lightly-peated single malt English whisky, with equal oak maturation in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels and then Port barriques.
