In 1826 the exuberant and extroverted James Allardice founded the distillery and produced his 'Guid GlenDronach' single malt. There was a period where the distillery was mothballed between 1996 and 2002. However in 2008, nothing less than a complete renaissance began. The BenRiach Distillery Company became GlenDronach's proud new owner.
A rare 1990s bottling of 1968 Glendronach 25 year old, this is from the same period as the legendary Air Nippon bottlings of the same age and vintage, but is not a single cask and is therefore rather less heavy on the wallet than those exalted expressions.
This 25 year old was first bottled in 1993 for the USA. Some of the original stock was sold there; the remainder, including this bottle, was 'lost' for 10 years in Glendronach's vast warehouses and a few cases were overlooked (no marketing hype here, you understand!)
