Lot number: 154-04597

Winning bid: £4,400

For a period, Campbeltown was the undisputed Whisky Capital of the World, boasting over 30 distilleries operating simultaneously at its peak. Locally available peat, barley and coal, coupled with a quick steamship service to Glasgow meant this thriving industry lasted into the early 20th Century. Alas; ultimately (and perhaps inevitably) it proved unsustainable, and by 1935 the bubble had well and truly burst, with only Springbank and Glen Scotia distilleries remaining.

The family owned Springbank is unique in that it remains the only distillery in Scotland where 100% of the production process is carried out on site, and while it produces three distinct styles (in Springbank, Longrow, and Hazelburn), its eponymous Springbank expression still accounts for the lion's share of production. A medium peated, two and a half times distilled spirit, Springbank is complex, robust and never boring!

Celebrating 1000 reviews at ralfy.com:

In celebration of 1000 reviews on the 'ralfydotcom' Youtube channel, the man himself and Springbank have two Ralfy branded bottles for sale in honour of charity. This first bottle is being sold by the dram at renowned Glasgow whisky bar The Bon Accord, with proceeds from that going to the Drumchapel Food Bank.

This bottle is being auctioned, with all the money raised being returned to Campbeltown to support a local project of Springbank's choice. The bottle has also been signed and dated by Ralfy.

For a fuller description here is the man himself telling the story of the bottle.
