In 2012, former Molson Coors sales director Paul Miller opened Eden Brewery - later rebranded as Eden Mill - on the site of an old paper mill near Seggie distillery which was previously opened and operated by the Haig family in the 1800s. The distillery mainly produces malt whisky, but bottles are very few. In June 2023 the owners took ownership of the building that will form their new home in the same location that whisky was first distilled on the banks of the Eden Estuary in 1655.
Situated on the new St Andrews University Eden Campus, the new distillery will combine the ancient craft of whisky making with modern technology for a more sustainable and earth positive outcome. Eden Mill’s gin is also delicious and very popular - but keeps its production to a limit of just eight barrel-fillings a week.
