Gordon & MacPhail have experienced such success with Benromach since they took over the practically derelict distillery in 1993, that in 2016 nine new washbacks were installed, increasing the potential capacity of the distillery to seven hundred thousand litres per annum. While this might sound like small potatoes compared to some of the Speyside titans, it shows remarkable confidence in the rejuvenated brand, since its reintroduction to the market in 2004.
With an interesting signature style that emulates the lightly peated Speysiders of the 1950s and 60s, combined with quality cask management and focus on single malt production, Benromach’s future is looking a lot more stable than its somewhat choppy past.
This exciting dram was bottled in support of the Clipper 07-08 yacht race around the world! This is one of the biggest challenges, with participants facing a 40,000 nautical mile race around the world in a 70 foot ocean sailing yacht. The winner of the 2007-2008 cohort was New York.
