Lot number: 180-01369

Winning bid: £40

Sitting on the Highland/Lowland border, Glengoyne distills its whisky in the Highlands and matures it in the Lowlands. Founded in 1833, under the name Burnfoot, the distillery is now owned by Ian MacLeod distillers, which champions its slow distillation process and a complete lack of peat as well as a rigorous approach to its sherry cask selection. It selects its own trees in Spain and allows the wood to air dry for two years before it is used for a further two years to age Oloroso sherry.

The second bottling in our Legacy Series follows on from Chapter One, when Cochrane Cartwright made innovations that define Glengoyne to this day. 134 years later the next chapter in our story unfolded when Peter Russell and his family fulfilled their dream of having their very own distillery and became custodians of Glengoyne. Peter and his family have helped ensure Glengoyne flourished, remaining the one of a kind dram cherished by whisky lovers worldwide.

It’s the second chapter in Glengoyne’s Legacy series! This one was dedicated to Peter Russell, chairman and founder of Ian Macleod Distillers, which bought Glengoyne in 2003. A trio of casks make up this fruity expression, specifically 48% was aged in first-fill bourbon barrels, with 17% in first-fill sherry casks and 35% in oak refill casks.

48% ABV / 70cl
