Ardent Spirits is an independent bottler founded in 2021 by Michael Bain . The company also own Burnobennie Distillery in Banchory, Deeside. They hunt down exceptional single casks from distilleries across Scotland and bring them straight from cask to bottle.
In 2024 the company purchased Dark Matter, Scotland’s first rum distillery, and in 2025 they also purchased independent bottlers, Chapter 7 after the company went into liquidation in October the same year. This latest acquisition is said to mark a ‘strategic expansion’ of Ardent’s spirits portfolio. In addition to this, Ardent has invested in a new bottling hall in Banchory to boost capacity for its existing whisky bottling contracts and creating additional space to meet packaging enquiries.
