John Hopkins & Company Ltd was first established in 1874, and the brand, Glen Garry was registered four years later in 1878. In 1896, the company built Speyburn Distillery in Rothes. Then, in 1916, the Distillers Company Ltd acquired the company making it a subsidiary and in doing so, also brought Tobermory Distillery, acquired by John Hopkins in 1888 into the fold. The running of Oban Distillery, acquired by DCL in the 1930s, became the responsibility of John Hopkins & Co. During the 1950s and 1960s, John Hopkins & Co was also the licensee for Glen Elgin Distillery.
No ABV Stated / No Volume Stated (estimated 1L)
Please note that potteries frequently used glazes containing lead. While a few days in a lead-glazed decanter isn’t immediately lethal, please be aware that lead may have leached directly into the alcohol.
Please examine all images of the lot, any packaging and labels carefully and satisfy yourself as to their condition before making a bid.
